Day 30

"Day 30 - A picture of someone you miss"

Now this may or may not count, but I consider animals [pets] to be like people. I talk to them, I ask them questions - knowing that I won't get an answer. I love them.

I really miss Bonnie.

Not a week goes by that I don't mention her. Even now, almost 2 years after she's died. I got really attached to her.

When we get our own house, I'm very hopeful to get another cocker spaniel pup.... maybe a boy, I would name him Clyde. LOL. Maybe we'll get 2 pups ... a boy and a girl, "Bonnie [the 2nd,haha] and Clyde.

I really liked how she was, her temperment. She was cuddly, active and playful.

Random Trip to South Padre Island - 04/28/11

So with all the storms that have been happening, we got hit with a cold front [?] ... LOL. The weather has been unbelievably nice the past couple of days.

We went with a few friends to the island after I got out of work yesterday. It was so nice out, definitely relaxing.

Why on a Thursday evening? Because we can. lol. JK. No, but really. We are less than 20 minutes away from the beach. In fact, I don't know why we aren't over there more often!

Here are a couple pictures I took:

[Edited with Instagram]   It was high tide, and yet there was a certain calmness to the waves ...

Our buddy Jesse wasn't able to go, so I drew his nickname in the sand and sent him a "Wish you were here" post on Facebook.

And we caught the sunset. :-)  [edited with Instagram]

Day 29

I love these little punks!!

Our nephews and niece.

Day 28

"Day 28 - A picture of something you're afraid of"

I'm afraid of drowning - not in just any body of water, but at the beach .. an uncontrollable setting.

I think more so now because of the loss of 2 of my friends ... :(

Day 27

"Day 27 - A picture of yourself and a family member"

This is me and my nephew Jack at our wedding. He was our ring bearer. [7 & 3/4's in this picture] I love this little punk to pieces!!

Every time I see him I am just blown away by how much he's grown up since the last time I've seen him!!

I'm so thankful and happy that my older sister and her family moved back to San Antonio from Illinois - visits are much more possible to plan now.

Day 26

"Day 26 - A picture of something that means a lot to you"

My wedding rings.

Not the best picture of them, but its' still a picture :)

These remind me of my wedding day - the day I made a promise and committment before God to my Danny.

That's some heavy stuff. lol.
It's been a roller coaster so far, but nonetheless a fun one!

Day 25

"Day 25 - A picture of your day"

Today is Monday, and since I won't be in the office tomorrow - my day included doing payroll today, which is normally done on Tuesday mornings. Other than payroll Tuesday's ... my days are all pretty much routine unless of course there's an explosion or a fire.

Desk stuff. hahaha. Monday's are generally slow for me.

Weighing trucks in ...

... to be unloaded ...

.. and then weighing them out.

Day 22 - Day 24

Whoa! We are up to Day 25 already?! Wow!

My Aunt and younger cousin were in a really bad car accident this past Thursday evening, and I only found out about it Friday afternoon.
http://amarillo.com/news/local-news/2011-04-22/pump-rage-crash-critically-injures-woman?page=1

My Aunt is doing much better - completely conscious and fully aware. Thank God!

So let me catch up ...

"Day 22 - A picture of something you wish you were better at"

Yes or Yes?? LOL. No but seriously, I have some of the worst time management skills. It starts at the beginning of the day when I'm waking up, I'll "guesstimate" how long it will take me to get ready, get my lunch - when/if I take lunch. And when that doesn't go as planned it kinda throws me off later at some point during my day. This is definitely something I need to get better at doing.

"Day 23 - A picture of your favorite book"

I don't read as much as I used to, but this is one has stuck out in my memory since I've read it.

It's a sad story, but it's written so well. When the movie came out I was indecisive whether to watch it or not - I was scared that the movie would suck and kind of ruin the story. I ended up renting it .. and I didn't think it was too bad, it stuck very close to the actual story so I was happy about that.

"Day 24 - A picture of something you wish you could change"

I don't want to get to serious on this one ...
But something I wish I could change - my luck with car problems!

My older sister asked me "What did you do to piss off the car gods?!"

Funny, huh?

Within the past month, we've had to deal with our car repeatedly overheating, so bad to the point where it blew a gasket and a head on the engine needed to be resurfaced. We were lucky we didn't have to replace the entire engine ... again. Then our van started to overheat, but my dad was able to repair it. Shortly after that though, while the car was in the shop getting that head resurfaced, Danny came to pick me up from work one day and while we were leaving the port a rock hit our side window. Just like that.

When it rains, it pours! It was not a fun month :-( And as my sister Tina said, "Poor me."

Maybe my brother in law, Casey, is right ... we should just pick up and move to San Antonio ... it'll change our luck he said.

Day 21

"Day 21 - A picture of something you wish you could forget"

I know it's normal .. but honestly, I would just like to forget all the times where it just got out of hand.

Day 20

First and foremost, I just want to say how proud I am of Danny for completing and performing his senior recital last night!! Finally!! He's come such a long way in the past year and a half, considering how he got bells palsey and all. He put on a great concert!!

^^ This is a duet he performed with his friend Erick - they played on piccolo trumpets.

Day 20 - A picture of somewhere you'd love to travel

Um Vacation? Yes, please!

LOL. Honestly I can name over a dozen places I'd love to travel, but if I had to pick - I think Venice [or anywhere in ITALY] would be at the top of my list.

Danny and I definitely want to do a lot of traveling before we start our family :)

Day 18 & 19

I hate getting behind. I was actually busy at work all day yesterday, a first! And then after work I went grocery shopping, cleaned up the apartment a little bit, ate a quick dinner and got to baking!

I baked some oatmeal crasin cookies and also some chocolate chip cookies to have after my husbands senior recital tonight! It's one of the last big things he has to do to fulfill his degree requirements. I can't just buy the cookies, it's against my morals and everything I hold true! lol. Sorry for the over dramatic-ness.

Day 18 - A picture of your biggest insecurity

I often doubt that I am incapable of .. anything.

Sometimes I think I'm not good enough in general, not matter what I'm doing. That I am incompetent and not smart enough. That I'm not pretty enough. My biggest competition is myself and I'm still learning to let up on myself and not come down so hard.

Day 19 - A picture and a letter

I'm going to cheat a little bit here, and steal this idea from my friend John who's doing the photo challenge on Facebook.

It's a photo and a letter. "J" for JESSICA :-)

April 17, 2011

Day 17

"Day 17 - A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently"

My job

This is where old junk cars, miscellaneous old appliances, and other scrap metal comes to die. lol.

I am so blessed to have a job. It isn't the most impressive job, but it definitely isn't boring. Because of this job I am able to provide for my family :)

Day 16

"Day 16 - A picture of someone who inspires you"

Even though I haven't kept up with her shows recently, I still adore her.

I started out with just baking, but after watching her "30 Minute Meals" I began to dabble with regular cooking. I have tried out many of her recipes, but have yet to master the 30 minute part. I think she's very talented and I'm happy to see that she's gotten to where she is today.

April 15, 2011

Day 15

"Day 15 - A picture of something you want to do before you die"

Eventually, before I die - I would like to open up and run my own bakery/cafe OR restaurant!

I imagine my bakery/cafe to look something like Meryl Streep's did in "It's Complicated"

And as far as restuarant goes ... I'm still drafting ideas in my head :) I think I have to narrow down what I'd serve  before I begin to think of a design for it.

Day 14

"Day 14 - A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without"

Sometimes with these posts it's really hard to just limit yourself to one choice. And I think that's why I delay with my posts, because I just can't decide :-/

And especially with posts like this. It's even more of a challenge to isolate a certain person, when in fact all the people you have around you [i.e. immediate family] helped to mold you to the person you are today.

So today, someone that I could never imagine my life without: Danny - my husband.

This Sunday is our 1 year Anniversary!!!

April 13, 2011

Day 13

"Day 13 - A picture of your favorite band or artist"

I can't pick just one!

I kinda grew up with Avirl and I can't help but love whatever she comes up with. I really do! I was lucky enough to see her in concert April 2008.

JOSH GROBAN! I actually took some time to come around to him - I don't know what I was thinking! My mom came to my little sister and I and said "Listen to this!" And naturally I was in my rebel years so I said "NO! I don't like it." It wasn't much longer after that before I was head over heels for him! And I will be lucky enough to see him in concert in Dallas on May 16!

Lately I've been listening to FLYLEAF! More so, their recent cd 'Memento Mori'.

April 12, 2011

Day 12

"Day 12 - A picture of something you love"

I love baking!

I haven't had a lot of time, much less the energy to bake anything lately. But when I start I go on a roll! I love to bake. The first thing I baked on my own, [from scratch] were a peach pie and an apple pie for a bake sale back in high school. Yeah I'm an overachiever like that. lol. I skipped right over cookies and went to pies.

Here are a couple of things I baked that I actually took pictures of:

Cheesecakes

 Strawberry Swirl Cake

Unfrosted Carrot cakes -- pumpkin pie

Rum Cake

Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting

Apple Pie

Monkey Bread

Chocolate Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

Lemon Meringue Pie

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies - don't be fooled by the terrible lighting

Lemon cake with a cool whip frosting

Strawberry Cheesecake

Now I just went and made myself hungry. Great. hahaha.

April 11, 2011

Day 11

"Day 11 - A picture of something you hate"

This one hurt the most to find a picture of, because I had to search for one.

But the thing that I hate the most is animal neglect, more so seeing dogs tied up. And I know that's like the bottom of the barrel when it comes to animal neglect.

I have been known to "help" a dog or two in my neighborhood. I know I probably shouldn't have, but I had to.

^^ Random picture from Google Search

Dogs do not deserve to be tied up. If you don't have a fence, don't get a dog. If you're not going to play with it, don't get one.

I know I'm only one person and that helping a few animals out doesn't even come close to making a difference in the thousands of cases of animal neglect. But I can try.

Day 10

"Day 10 - A picture of the person you do the most crazy things with"

AUDREY!

Haha. We don't do the most crazy things, but we definitely push eachother past what we think our limits are. We tell eachother the truth, we don't sugar coat anything and I wouldn't have it any other way!
