Danny: Wanna play [Call of Duty-Black Ops] with me?
Jessica: Nah. It’s ok, not right now. I think I’m gonna play tetris.
Danny: What?! I thought that’s what your "vacation" was for?!
Lol. So I've got some updating to do on here... A post on that definitely coming tomorrow! Nothing too unbearably [is that a word? lol.] bad, but still enough that is update worthy.

Conversations with Audrey
This is where Audrey, my little sister, and I were talking about having recently watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and the end of the Harry Potter era.

Conversations With Audrey
On Monday Audrey [my little sister] had a final to take for one of her summer classes .. This was just right about when she was about to go in and take her exam... LOL
That's how we roll ;D

What's on your phone??
I "borrowed" this idea from another blog I read :)
She went through her phone and shared random pictures she had stored.
I actually went to the random number generator site and picked 6 random numbers out of the many photos I had to share with you girls ..

My Mr. Smokey Pants. He really is a big softie deep down inside even though most of the time he refuses to show it. He likes to sit with me at the kitchen table sometimes, lol

JOSH GROBAN!!!
This was taken during his concert in Dallas on 05/16. Floor seats, 3rd row center!! WHOOOO!!!
What else can I say?! lol.

Our dog Bella, she looks down in the dumps about 95% of the time. I really do miss her a lot :(
There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of her. Soon, hopefully really soon she'll come to live with us when we get out of the apartment and into a house! I'm always bugging my sister to send me pictures of Bella. Sometimes we'll even facetime and I'll spend a good chunk of that time trying to get Bella to look at the phone.

Danny and I after his Dad's wedding in April. It's not everyday that Danny dresses in a tux or that I wear my hair down - it's just too HOT and HUMID in South Texas ... we HAD to take a pic :)

This one was taken on a weekend at my Dad's house after bathing all the dogs. A ladybug came to say "Hello" :)

This was taken on a random weekday trip to South Padre. It took me awhile to actually be able to step into the water... it felt really refreshing that day.
What do you store on your phone?

Catching up
I can't belive I haven't posted anything in a week! It'd be understandable if I was busy, busy, busy ... but I really wasn't :(
I did read everybody's blogs though; however, I wasn't able to post any comments on anybody's blog. That made me kind of frustrated. On almost all comments I tried to post it'd ask for my google id, take me to a sign in page - then I would sign in and it would take me back to the comment post page only to preview it as an anonymous comment o.O
It seems to be a common problem among other bloggers, I just hope it gets resolved soon.
This is gonna be one of those "dump posts".
Nothing excited happened last week, except our brisket BBQ at work which turned out really well! I contributed dessert, which I was really excited to do. I made 4 rum cakes just to make sure that there was plenty for all of our 43+ employees. They turned out fabulous and everybody loved them. One guy even asked if he could buy one from me later this week :) He caught me off guard, so I told him I'd sell him one for $10.00
I took some picutres while I baked:
The weekend was pretty chill - we didn't do much of anything. We did a BBQ on Sunday with the band, that was pretty fun. But I fail, as I did not take any pictures :( Not a single one.
I had Memorial Day off, which was ok on Sunday but then I felt kinda bad that I wasn't able to work ... that's like 9 hours I'm gonna miss off next weeks paycheck :( I rested up a lot, more than I needed to I think because I feel really tired right now ... lol. I'm sure it'll even itself out later this week.

^^ My baby in action! lol.
^^ 2 down, 2 to go!
^^ Danny was out gigging with the band one night, and I needed to make sure he or anybody else wouldn't eat the 2 that were ready by Thursday! - You know, to ensure their survival for Friday's BBQ
^^ The Smokester, mommy's little helper ;)
Well, no not really but he did keep me company.

Wordless Wednesday - The Smokester
He reminded me of Danny in this picture.
Danny is still in healing from his bells palsey - almost completely recovered, but not fully. His left eye is almost always just slightly closed more than the right ... kinda like Smokey in this picture. lol.

Friday, the 13th ..... OOOoooohhh!! o.O
Hahaha. Creepy?? Nah, not unless you're superstitious.
Well here I am! I haven't really gone anywhere, yet.
This post is going to be a little random and all over the place, so I apologize in advance :)
1. So where have I been?? Well, my computer at work totally crapped out on me. Not in the sense that it crashed and everything on it was lost, but rather it just became extremely, and frustratingly [<-- is that even a word?? lol.] SLOW!!
My boss tried everything he could to make it run faster, but had no luck. Then we did the next best thing and called in a computer technician. Did it help? Heck no! For some weird reason there was 8GB of memory on the computer, and only 3GB's were available. He thinks that the chip must've been ruined which in turn made it run really slow, and it would be really expensive to fix - it would be cheaper to just buy me a new tower.
So did I get a new computer?? NO! The software I use to run payroll will only run on a 32 bit tower.... And all the new, off-the-shelf towers at the stores come in 64-bit. Yes they're better, and probably faster [can you tell I don't know much about computers?? lol. all this technical mumbo jumbo stuck in my head after some repitition of hearing it over, and over .... ] I did get a replacement tower, just not a brand spanking new one. It is way better than the one I had, I noticed a drastic difference from the old one when I began to use it yesterday. A new tower is not going to make me better at my job, and not getting a new one isn't going to make me be a bad employee either. I can rock this job, even if I had to use the old one!! :D
2. I've been feeling under the weather for the past several days. It's not a cold, or the flu .. .I think it's some kind of throat infection. My throat is just irritated. I'm not coughing, not a lot anyway just every once in awhile something I breathe in will rub it the wrong way and I'll cough as a result of that. My sense of taste has gone - everything tastes bland :( and when I salt something, the salt really comes out and then it's all I can taste. I've been feeling really drained of energy, and have had no urge to cook or clean at all.
3. This week flew by really quickly! It seems like just yesterday was Monday. Maybe it's because every, other day I was the county court house trying to renew a registration sticker ... I've had to go back repeatedly because of bumps that have come up. Finally, though we made a break only to go in today and find that the clerk/notary that was on our case wasn't going to make it in to work today :( There's always next week ...

It's almost time for the concert! I just saw a clip his page uploaded on Facebook, and now I'm even more anxious!!!
5. I've stayed late at work everyday. Right now, I'm still here. I'm completely caught up on my work for the week and I'm just waiting on 2 trucks to make it into the yard. One is to be unloaded, the other is going to be loaded up with shredded aluminum.
***EDIT - 5:50PM : Both trucks just showed up - at the same time!! lol. Score! :D
6. I think it's time for some Netflix while I wait!
Tonight is banda night. ...... Mission - "Video Clip" is on! I hope I get a good one :)
I hope everyone has a great Friday Night!!

My Weekend & Conversations with Jack
Friday went down as usual - go to work, go home and cook dinner, get ready to go to JAAS [night club] for "Banda night". My Danny is in this group, they're pretty great and I'm totally not being biased here. Personally, before - I couldn't really care less about this type of music, but hearing it on the speakers from a recording and watching it live is pretty different. I actually kind of like it now, although I am still learning the songs. One of these days I'll get a video recording to share on here.
Saturday, we slept in. And I mean it we slept in! We didn't get up from bed till almost 2 PM. And then we just relocated to the living room and watched tv. What couch potatoes, huh?! Close to 4 PM we took our car to a mechanic to get a radiator flush and while that was going on we went to Target to go buy a present for our nephew Jadon, for his 3rd Birthday! We then returned to the apartment where we continued to bum some more. Danny had 2 gigs lined up with the banda later that night, and then had a series of little gigs lined up with a little group to do "Mother's Day Serenades" throught the wee hours of the morning through Mother's Day. Danny got back from his banda gigs at about 3AM and then we loaded up the car and drove to the mid-valley so he could go off and do the serenades. I got to my dad's house just after 4AM.
Sunday Audrey [younger sister] and I got to see Christina[older sister] and Jack [nephew]! They'd driven down to go see her Grandmother for Mother's Day. Our mom was unavailable for Mother's Day; she's off on some month long road trip with her husband, and she also does not have a cell phone. So we went to breakfast :)
Conversation on the way to Breakfast:
Jack: "Where are we going??"
[Sister's]: "Jose's Cafecito"
Jack: [PAUSE] ... "I don't know Spanish!"
Christina then began to tell us how Jack knows a little bit of Spanish, he just forgets that he knows. One time she'd asked him to bring her something, and she said "Gracias", which means Thank you - and Jack replied "De nada", which means Your Welcome. Basic stuff, yes - but he knows. I remember he was counting 1-10 in Spanish when he was maybe 4 years old, he'd learned in day care. Now he can count to 15, and I told him that was great!
During breakfast:
Jack: [to me] "How old are you?"
Me: "How old do you think I am? - WAIT! Don't answer that!" [I didn't want to hear some outrageous number, lol] "I'm twenty-three"
Jack: [to Audrey] "So you're twenty-...."
Audrey: [interupting Jack] "Twenty-one"
Jack: [to Audrey] "So then you have 2 more years before you have to be married!"
Christina then began to tell Jack that Audrey didn't have to get married if she didn't want to, she was still very young. I was just sitting there laughing my face off, this kid throws me sometimes with the stuff he says!
Jack: "But then she will be single. And a lonely, loner - all alone."
O.o
All this from my 8 + 3/4 year old nephew!
After breakfast we continued talking about words in Spanish, and on the ride back to my dad's Jack wanted to eat a mint he had in the car but Christina told him he could have it later after they ate lunch. Of course he wanted it right then and there, so Audrey then proceeded to tell him that he could eat it - if he could say breakfast in Spanish. [it's "desayuno"]
I helped him as much I could. I told him the first 2 letters were "de", a couple letters in the middle were "ay" and the last two were "no". Of course he never answered, but then some time goes by and he then asks me how to spell "Audrey", so I tell him. And curiously, I looked over to see what he was doing. He was messing around on his iTouch, with his notepad app.
He wrote: "Today Audrey made me say breakfast in Spanish."
Seriously, he blows my mind away sometimes!!

This is a small ship compared to some of the other ones I've seen.
I really do miss the 30 day Blog Challenge. I haven't posted anything since Saturday! For shame.

Random Trip to South Padre Island - 04/28/11
So with all the storms that have been happening, we got hit with a cold front [?] ... LOL. The weather has been unbelievably nice the past couple of days.
We went with a few friends to the island after I got out of work yesterday. It was so nice out, definitely relaxing.
Why on a Thursday evening? Because we can. lol. JK. No, but really. We are less than 20 minutes away from the beach. In fact, I don't know why we aren't over there more often!
Here are a couple pictures I took:

[Edited with Instagram] It was high tide, and yet there was a certain calmness to the waves ...
Our buddy Jesse wasn't able to go, so I drew his nickname in the sand and sent him a "Wish you were here" post on Facebook.
And we caught the sunset. :-) [edited with Instagram]

I'm allergic to sweat!
... Or am I?
I've been meaning to get healthy and lose some weight for some time now. But there was always something to excuse myself from actually getting out and exercising. So we [hubby and I] finally made it a point to go out and get some vitamins and weight loss additives [<-- I might be wrong on that word] ....
So we re-started our walking/jogging in the mornings around where we live. I enjoy it for the most part. Waking up early is the part I'm not too crazy about. So maybe a little less than halfway through our path, my thighs start to feel itchy. And then I notice that the my waist starts to feel itchy too - from the elastic on my shorts. When I look down I see that my thighs they're red and splotchy. The sweat irritates my legs! Would you believe that? Yea my husband doesn't buy it either. lol.
No but seriously, I think it's just because my body is not used to sweating .. at all. I'm sure that it won't happen all the time. At least I hope not. We'll see how tomorrow goes!

This is why ...
... I can't lose weight.
Well not that I can't. But it definitely doesn't make it any easier.
By the way - this cake was absolutely delicious!
Dont' judge.

A good work-out idea ... not!
So my car died. The engine is shot and its needs a new one. Since last payday we've been pretty stretched thin so we knew we were going to have to wait another 2 weeks till our next one to get it replaced. It's been a week and a half and it's been difficult and managable to say the least.
But anyway, my dad thought it'd be a good idea to get the car to the mechanic so he could start taking the old engine out and get it all ready for the new engine to be put in. Makes sense, yes? Yes. In order to accomplish this the car would need to be towed over to the mechanics. A simple feat, yeah in my mind! lol.
We needed to push the car onto the dolly and secure it down. So the hubby was at work and I was the only one at home to help my dad try to get the car mounted on. The whole thing sounded so much easier in my head. lol. I am a weakling!
The car was in neutral and we had to push, get a running start and hope it would make it over the ledge of the dolly and keep. But everytime we tried, the car would get as far as "almost, but not quite", so we'd try again. I think we attempted 6-7 times, and by the last time my legs were already numb! I'd built up a sweat and everything! That's all I've gotta do? Push a car onto a dolly? Neh. No thank you! lol.
This is what we were dealing with:
Yeah, it only looks easy!

A Productive Day!
1. THE ROYERS ARE MOVING BACK TO TEXAS!!! Who are the Royers you ask? Why no one else but these wonderful people:
Casey will be the first one back since he is to start work in San Antonio late July!!! But at some point, within a few months - they'll be nothing but a few hours drive away!!! I'm super excited! Can you tell?! lol.
2. Yesterday was a little bittersweet. We found out about my sister moving back and also informed about a high school teacher of mine that passed away. Ms. Rodriguez was the head band director at our rival middle school, and also taught flute at the high school. I wasn't as close to her as some of the other girls but I'd had lessons with her throughout my years there. My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to her family, and I pray that they receive the strength and support they'll need through this difficult time.
3. Early this week I asked for the day off since I knew Danny had today off and we thought we'd take advantage of it and head to Brownsville and continue our search for somewhere to live. At this point we'd already given up hope on houses for lease. There just isn't much in inventory there, so today we just focused on apartments. We looked at a total of about 5 complexes, and at the end of the day we picked one. It's a reasonable monthly rent and was quite inclusive. The only downside is that we can't take Bella! They have a weight restriction on the pets, and she's got to be at least 35 lbs - on her skinny days. And their one time non-refundable pet deposit is $400.00. Yeah, that's a little too much for me. Sorry Bella, I did try!
4. Ashley Furniture is having a special tomorrow for select customers, at least that's what they're telling me! I got a letter in the mail saying I was a preferred customer and that I should come in and take advantage of all the special savings. If it's not really for "preferred customers" I'm going to pretend that it is, it makes me feel special :) lol. SO tomorrow after work Danny and I are going by to see what we can find. We're gonna need some new furniture for our new apartment! Yay! Shopping!! I'm looking forward to it!
Back to the grind tomorrow! Oh joy. Lol. JK About 4 more weeks to go at my current job. Guess I better start looking for a new one :)
My Brother In Law Casey, my sister Christina and Mr. Jack!
[That's my mom on the far right, she's not moving back, she's already here! ;) ]
I've really missed this little guy

Random Tuesday
So this hardly ever happens to me. For awhile now, I've come home with several ideas for blog topics . . . but for the past couple of days I got nothing! All that has consumed my head is how fast my wedding is coming up! I'm so excited that it's all I can think about! I've seen similar things in past posts in blogs I've read so I thought I'd might give it a try.
10 [Random Facts] About Me:
1. When I find a new blog to read I go back and read all the past posts from the author - from the very first post.
2. No matter how many dogs I may own, I will always want to bring another one home.
3. I hate to exercise. Mostly because I can't wrap my mind around it because until recently I never really had to work out before. And the only exercise I do like is running outside playing with the dogs or at the rec center playing Raquetball.
4. I adopted my now only dog, Bella, as a solution to a problem I was having with my old dog Bonnie. As much as I miss Bonnie, I can't imagine my life without Bella. She's got the oddest personality, and she's so innocent you can't help but like her.
5. I like the idea of dresses and cute strappy sandals, but I can never committ to actually styling myself or actually going out and buying.
6. I would die without my iPhone. I love it. I live it. I'd be lost without it.
7. I am a germaphob. A big germaphob. Seriously.
8. I like picking at things. I really like to pick off fleas from the dogs. My sisters dog Pudge has really come to enjoy it.
9. I picked up at Rockband pretty quick. Drums specifically I guess. No one ever likes to play the drums. It's not that bad! lol.
10. I love the idea of super short hair, I willl never, ever cut it that short. My hair is way to thick and it gets way to damn hot down here to wear it down all the time.
There are probably a whole lot more things I could've written, but those were the first that came to my mind. I even had to research a bit. lol.
