Update - August 2011

Before begining this post, I hesitated for a few minutes - pondering how much longer I could put this off. lol. Yep, that's the procrastinator in me speaking! Shameful, yes, I know.

• 3 weeks ago today, Danny and I celebrated 1 year of living in our apartment together. I kicked myself for not having before pictures of our place when we first moved in. And then for not having cleaned the apartment to take pictures of what it looks like today. I definitely have had my moments of disliking the apartment, mostly because the kitchen is so darn small and cramped. But I've come to like this place, it's homey :D I will miss it when it comes time to leave.
• August 5th ended up being my last day of work at my super, cool, awesome and interesting job. Our company is closing down and they'd begun to make preperations to shut down. The office staff was one of the first casulties. It'd been up for sale for some time and when there weren't any big bites, the owner decided to close it down.  Right now, they have a limited amount of guys out in the yard-mostly for clean-up since the yard and everything on it is going up for auction on September 15.
• I  put off finishing my resume and sending out applications during that first week of being unemployed, mostly because I had high hopes of being called back for whatever reason. Or even that a buyer was in the process of making negotiations and wanted to keep the place running. Sadly, nothing to that effect happened. And I didn't really enjoy that week off. I felt annoyed, and I was a little mad that I was in this situation. Again. Looking back, I'm in the same place I was last year. Unemployed.
• I got to see Bella at my dad's house last week, after almost [or maybe even longer than] a month. It seemed like forever. Before that, I'd tried FaceTiming with her, and boy oh boy did she let me know she was mad at me! :( I felt so sad. Thanks to Audrey for kidnapping me that weekend because I got to spend some quality time with Bella and made sure to let her know she was my pooch! Love that punk!



Last week (08/14-08/20) I started helping my dad out at his job. They're couriers [kinda like the UPS] guys, out and about delivering stuff. They'd just landed a great contract with Staples so there was gonna be some extra work. I'd helped out several years before when my mom used to work there too and she went on vacation or whatever reason she couldn't work. It's not hard, it's just work. lol. Does that make sense?? Well, luckily for me I had Danny to help me get into it for a few days. And the true test came on Friday when he couldn't go with me. The biggest obstacle for me is going to be the cases of paper because they're so darn heavy! Just being in the warehouse loading up for deliveries is a work out so you know I'm getting my exercise on! lol. You sweat so much you need an extra shirt or two to get through the day. So for temporary work, I'll be ok. But I still miss my old job and being in the nice, comfy air conditioning.

Just today, [08/21] I filled out 2 applications, and sent out 4 more resumes. OOh and I baked a cake! How awesome am I?? ;) I kid, I kid. Seriously though, one of the applications is for a job that I really, really want. And I really did bake that cake ...  So say a little prayer for me while I go through this awful process of "job hunting" again. Please and thank you!

Smokey has been a lot more cuddly! :) Thank goodness, it's comforting and makes me smile.

Wordless Wednesday ... and an award!!!

I was able to go to my dad's house this weekend and got a big dose of some poochy love from my Bella :) I REALLY missed that big, stinky punk.

And now, on to some not so wordless stuff! lol.

So, something about myself huh?
Let me think of a few things that I haven't mentioned before ...

• I have a teensy problem: I like to/try to rescue stray dogs. There have been times before where I "rescued" a few in my old neighborhood. They deserved better!! Just the other night I tried to pick up a little puppy that was walking along the road when I was on my way home from the store .. but my loud car scared the little guy off :(  I hope he's ok.
• I <3 JOSH GROBAN! lol. 'Nuff said.
• I cannot cook/bake anything in my kitchen if its' dirty. By dirty I mean: dishes in the sink, dirty countertops, dishes that can be put away in minutes ... I will litterally pick up a little bit before I even start making anything.
• I don't shop at Wal-Mart ever since I saw a documentary on Netflix called "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price" .. I can tell you that it's very hard to resist convenience and extrememly low prices though :(
• I love fresh flowers. I try to get some as often as I can to put in a vase in our dining room. Danny will sometimes buy some for me too :) He bought these for me on Monday:

Bella

I miss my pooch.

I've been kinda bummed lately. And for the mere fact that I really miss my pooch!

We are currently leasing in an apartment and their policy on dogs is that they're allowed with a $400.00 non-refundable pet deposit, and max weight of 25 lbs. Our Bella is right around 50 lbs! So needless to say, someone would've definitely noticed her and we would've gotten in trouble. Right now we have Smokey in the apartment, illegally. lol. But he's been really good in the apartment surprisingly enough.

But Smokey is a cat. He's not a cuddler like Bella is :( I miss her like crazy. I've had a dog since I was a kid. I had Chachi [chihuahua] through middle school, high school and college. Then we got our cocker spaniel Bonnie. I had her the shortest, but she was a good dog! She liked to chase cars :( And while we had Bonnie we adopted Bella. This March will mark 2 years with Bella. I miss her terribly. I tried to facetime with her last week, and she was so fascinated with herself she didn't pay me any attention.

Lucky for me, we are heading to visit my dad this weekend and the next since the husband has a practice and a performance in the upper valley. So I'll get to spend some quality time with Bella - and do my laundry. lol. Until then I'll just miss her.

Marley & Me

So I've pretty much been a bum lately. But that's gonna change on Monday, I'm throwing in the towel and going to apply at a call center - at least while I wait for a phone call for another interview.

Yesterday, I finally saw Marley & Me - it came out on HBO.

I'd never seen it before but I'd heard that it was sad.

It wasn't an out of the ordinary special dog with super powers or talking abilities. Marley was your typical dog, that happened to be a little out of control at times, but it was to be expected he was a huge dog!

So many years went by and life happened, then with about 20 minutes left in the movie I was dripping tears. I tried to hold it in because Danny was in the living room also, not really watching the movie but still in the room and I knew he wouldn't let up about me crying. I couldn't help it. At that point I stopped seeing Marley, but instead saw Bonnie and Chula. Chach.

In my family, we grew up as dog lovers. Yes, we have our cat, but dogs will always be the favorite. It just really hit close to home for me.

I'm not sure Danny really understood why I was crying, I'm sure he just saw it as me crying for a silly movie.

And now, I really miss Bella.

Well since we're still at my dad's we've got a ton! Bella and Smokey are ours. Then there's my sisters: Pudge, Chiquita and Erin - plus Erin's 3 kittens! And my dad has Daisy!

Bella eats lying down.

Smokey likes to hang out outside on top of one of the AC units. That seems to be his favorite one.

Bella: Poochie ... Bella ... Baby ... My Bella ... Chiflada {spanish for spoiled, because lets face it, she is} Cochina {spanish for icky} ... Pooch ...

Smokey: Smokey ... Smokey-pants ... Smokey Okey ... Cat ... Canijo {curious little punk} --- and Danny and my dad like to call him Smokette, because he's fixed. lol. They're mean, I know!

4. Are your pets spoiled or not (grin)?
Yes. I'm not afraid to admit it. I love them to death and I treat them that way.

Apologies! Lol. As if anyone really reads this shtuff anyway :)

The past month or so has been so hectic! But it's all calmed down and now we're heading towards the finish line!

There are 2 more days till the official class day; 10 more days till my last undergraduate final; 12 more days till my college graduation and then the race through the holidays, my birthday and finally the WEDDING!

The original day was supposed to be this past Saturday, but alas no such luck. It's ok, we weren't prepared for it anyway. But just my luck, it was a beautiful day. Actually, Sunday was better because it was a bit warmer, but still Danny loved Saturday's weather. I think the high was 60 .... somewhere around there.

We are on track for the wedding in April though. Everything, and I mean everything is booked! Now we gotta pay it all off and have a great day! I'm not worried anymore, and if only my body would take that and RELAX. lol. I need a project or something.

Bella is doing great. She lights up everytime Danny comes over. And she's so loyal. I only worry about her being alone. And I think what'll happen is we'll adopt another dog from a shelter, an older one, similar to her size to keep her company and to play with. I do wanna adopt a boy, neutered of course. But I haven't revealed my plans to Danny yet :)

So I'll leave it at that. And I promise, now that my schedule is becoming more regular, I will be blogging more consistently :)



Gas update: I was actually too tired to catch it today! I failed :(

So I suck.

I knew I was going to have the worst time keeping up with this. I'm still trying - give me a break ... please. LOL

Anywho - it's been 2 months ... still missing Bonnie. I think it was because I had her since she was chisquitita (really small). But time heals all wounds right? Right, well. Time. Hmph. I did find a Jim Shore figurine that looks so much like her, or vice-versa. Had to get it. Ironically named Sadie, which is what Danny's sister originally named her before I changed it to Bonnie.

Bella is doing great. She's so heavy! And huge!!! She's a good dog.

So I actually had this past whole week off. FINALLY. A vacation. An unpaid vacation. Nevertheless, a vacation. It was so relaxing to not have to wake up so early and be somewhere. I almost forgot what it was like to sleep in. After so many days of constantly waking up early, your body adjusts and gets used to it. It sucked. lol. But now that's wrapping up. It was good while it lasted. I feel so much more at ease and I haven't been so moody either. That's a good thing. I might not even have my job after a few weeks. My Tio says I may not have enough hours to help him with everything that needs to get done. In September we have corporate deadlines. Then October is full with all those people that decided to file an extension AND payroll reports need to be filed as well. I hope I can at least get a job tutoring at school.

Danny just finished up his 2nd week with Best Buy. They somehow managed to give him 40 hours a week, which is astonishing. We really, really appreciate that. Hopefully it's reflected in his paycheck. Especially since we're hoping to buy a car soon. He still hasn't started up with Coca-Cola yet, but once he does he'll really need a good reliable car to get him from place to place. And well, "Rosa" is just not cutting it. I hope we can find something and work it all out. It won't be anything fancy. Probably a little pick-up. Those are always useful.

Amarillo trip to see Grandma is next weekend. It'll be good to see the family. And see Tina and Jack of course! Audrey is afraid of the take-off's in the plane. What a weirdo.

That's it for now. It's late. Ish. And I gotta get up early! The car hunting begins tomorrow!
