Micellaniosity!

That's right! It's time for another:

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

[1] So we finally caught up on 24 and are so ready for the finale! I know, I watch a lot of tv. Maybe too much tv ... That's still up for debate though. :-) but yeh, the 2 hour season finale is tonight! I'm really looking forward to it and I hope it's not a big let down.

[2] I've been contemplating on starting up on the P90X thing again. It works, you just have to be consistent with it. I've tried different schedules but really what it comes down to is waking up early and doing it in the morning - which I really don't like.

[3] I finally went out and bought some scrapbooking supplies, just to start. And last Wednesday I went to Wal-Mart and ordered some prints of pictures from my bridal shower and some my sisters took at the wedding. They're supposed to be ready to pick up tomorrow so I'll probably start working on some pages within this week.

[4] Tomorrow night is my old high school's Mariachi concert. I'm only sort of looking forward to it. I've gone the past 3 years since I've graduated because Mariachi was the part I enjoyed the most about high school. And I always hope that each year is better than the next only to be kinda let down. I hope that isn't the case this year. I hope they have a great concert!

[5] Last week Danny suggested we don't have any kids. At all. And I'm ok with that right now because it's not something I want right at this point. Don't get me wrong though, if something were to happen and we have kids we'd love them to pieces and make ourselves prepared, but I know (planning wise) I'm not ready. He said: "Yeh, we'll just have dogs. We'll get 2 cocker spaniels and we'll still have Bella and we'll keep Smokey!" He did bring up a lot of good points. Lol. We're probably gonna get the 2 additional dogs anyway, kids or no kids.

[6] I'm pretty bummed that we're gonna miss Glee tomorrow because of the Mariachi concert, but thank goodness our cable is back up and the dvr will catch it on the schedule :-)

[7] The Bachelorette premiere's tonight. I haven't decided if I want to watch just yet. I'll probably decide after tonights episode.

[8] Danny and I are planning on going to South Padre some time within the next 2 weeks with his sister and her family. And our dogs. And no, they're not small dogs. The last time Bella went to the beach she was a baby! And she hated walking on the leash, but she's gotten better about it, plus I bought her one a couple of months ago that matches her pretty collar - although it isn't too pretty anymore because she wears it all the time! That should be interesting. But they do want to go during the week, which means I may have to ask for the day off ... :-)

[9] Only 4 more work days till the weekend! And my cousin Victoria's graduation party! Looking forward to some family time

Friday & Saturday!

Friday Danny and I were invited to a BBQ with his dad Dan and his fiance Elva. It was mostly for Dan's side of the family to meet Elva's son Danny and his wife Marlen. LOL - I thought my name was common, but we had 3 Danny's there that night. My Danny, Dan [Danny's dad] and Elva's son Danny.

So we were in charge of dessert! Yay! :) But becuase I work 8-5 everyday I had to bake the desserts the night before on Thursday! Which happened to be the same night as the Grey's Anatomy season finale! The 2 hour season finale! So there I was in the kitchen getting all my ingredients together on the counter while watching the finale. Needless to say, I didn't really get much done throughout those 2 hours! My eyes were glued to the tv screen! I stayed up pretty late that night, but I got to see the finale so it was worth it!

I made a yellow cake with a chocolate fudgy frosting and I also made a batch of oatmeal rasisin cookies :-)

The cake came out ok, but when it came to make the chocolate buttercream frosting - it ended up a little thick. The flavor was great, but the texture was a little heavy. But I left it and went ahead and used it to frost the cake. I know a couple of things I'll want to do to change it up and make it better. The texture of the cake was also a little heavy and not light and fluffy like I wanted it to be.

Overall the night was great! We ended the night making a pit stop at Starbucks on the way to Becky & Rigo's house to watch a movie before heading home.

Saturday we had a small list of errands to run that took hours to complete! We started out going to the banks to deposit/transfer money. I still have my old account open, but once we get our new checks for our joint account I'll close the old one.

Then we were off to the Sprint store to check if Danny's old phone could be replaced. The lighting on his screen is all kinked and sometimes it just goes out and you can't see a thing. Luckily it was available for an upgrade and we went ahead and looked into getting our own account since Danny's phone was still under his dad's account. So because my AT&T contract ends this August, I'm going to wait awhile before I make the switch to Sprint. I'm going to miss my iPhone! It's going to be a sad parting of ways. But it won't go far, my sister's gonna keep it and get the new upgrade when the iPhone 4g comes out this summer. Danny got the charcoal Samsung Reclaim.

After the Sprint store we went to go and see about canceling his gym membership at Gold's gym. It's about 25 minutes away from where we live right now and he hasn't been getting much use out of it. But now their policy is different and he has to call a 1-800 # so we'll have to take care of it during the week.

We continued to do a couple more errands and grab some lunch at Ci-Ci's. And one of the last things we did was go to Bed, Bath and Beyond to use some coupons we had. Luckily we still had some gift cards available to use! After about 30 minutes of walking around the store and finding things we liked and wanted and somehow talked ourselves out of - we ended up buying this:

For dinner my dad grilled shrimp and beef kabobs - they were delicious! And we ended the night watching Edge of Darkness. Finally! lol. We've had that movie for about 2 weeks already and didn't get around to watching it until last night.

Tonight is just another lazy Sunday. Danny's at work and I'm taking care of the laundry like a good wife. Ok well maybe I'll get to it. Soonish. I'm also making my Chicken Parmesean for dinner tonight! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Today was a lazy day :) And this time I was home to enjoy it! AWESOME!

Top 2 Tuesday!

Today's Top 2 picks are: Top 2 things you want to do before you die

[1] I want to open up my own Bakery. Or little cafe. I love to bake! I've been cooking a lot more lately too, but there's too much variety to actually narrow it down as to the type of restaurant I'd open. But to experiment - I could do that everyday. It beats being cooped up in an office, bored out of my mind ... daydreaming about what ingredients could be altered to make something completely new!

[2] I want to buy a fixer upper and completely re-do it.

Completely gut it out and re-do it! Does that sound crazy?? Although, I don't think I'd sell it once it was complete. I would find some way to keep it in the family or just live in it myself .

So those are my Top 2.

Another story: this morning while carpooling to work with the Hubby, he started talking about this guy at work that had just gotten engaged. And lately, Danny's been working in the appliances department at Best Buy so that guy was there looking for a rice cooker! This is the way Danny told it to me:

Danny: A rice cooker? That's what your woman is for!
Coworker: My woman can barely make cereal :(
Danny: Oh man - you don't have a woman, you have a little girl. [lol. jk] Me? I got me a woman! :)
Oh my Danny. lol.

More Miscellaneosity!

[1] Thank you Mr. Pharmacy client for kindly reminding me that today marks the one month anniversary since the wedding to My Danny!

[2] I've been watching a lot of "Glee" lately. The DVR is a big contributor! I like how they do a lot of covers of the good oldies and even some of the top songs from today. It's so bad, I had the hubby buy the 1st Volume on DVD. My first love, Josh Groban, made a little cameo in one of the first episodes ... that's another blog though ;)

[3] I just noticed that Bella, our furbaby - nibbles when she's getting attention but then that attention is intruded by one of the other furball's. It gets to be a bit difficult trying to manage giving attention to 4 monsters pooches at once. Yes I said 4. I know. It's insane. But look at this face:

[4] I sometimes wish DVR controlled the work week. So I could fast foward straight to the weekend!

[5] I'm so looking forward to this weekend! Danny actually has Saturday off! The whole day! :)

[6] A couple of hours ago, while I was catching up on "Desperate Housewives" on the DVR, I caught the extended preview for the season finale of "Grey's Anatomy" - 2 hour season finale! Awesome preview. I just hope that the episode fulfills my expecations, or surpasses them!

[7] The other night I took over the tv after my sister decided to call it a night, and she was watching something on the Disney channel ... I caught a scene or two from "The Suite Life on Deck" [I guess what was previously "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody"

[8] We finally gave our nephew, Jadon, his birthday present - about 2 weeks late! We bought him some teeny tiny converse that were green and looked like they were dinosaur faces complete with the gnarly teeth and nostrils! I only regret not taking a picture! But he opened them, and said "Wow!" - then pulled one out of the box, sat down on the floor and threw his sandals off and tried to put on his new shoe! He loved them!

[9] I wish tomorrow were Friday already - it's Payday for me! :-)

My Spoiled Furbaby!

This is Smokey:

For the most part, Smokey's an outside cat. He goes potty outside, lays out in the sun, climbs trees, etc.

Now I said "for the most part" because for the past month or so he's been sleeping inside. He sleeps all through the night. And if for some reason he wakes up before I do, example-weekday mornings, he kinda just sits up and stays put. He'll let me sleep until my alarm goes off! What a sweetie right?!

The hubby actually lets Smokey sleep with us at night. He's a really low maitenance cat. Or so I thought.

This is my sisters cat Erin:

Erin just had 3 teeny-tiny furbabies! They're so cute! And since she's had them she's let us get near them and keep an eye on them. She trusts us.

She had them outside in one of our storage rooms. We live in South Texas and it gets really hot! That plus it's mosquito/flea season and they're just thriving! Not exactly the best situation for new babies. So we brought them inside. The babies I mean. Erin is like Smokey, mostly outdoors. She wont use the litter box, she doesn't know what it is.

But ever since we brought them inside, Smokey just can't be near them! They usually eat on top of the dryer. Isolated and up high so that our dogs won't bother them. If Erin is there too, hungry - he will whine his mouth off and won't have it! So we let him outside and he doesn't eat.

So me being the mommy that I am, found a way to get Smokey to stay inside and eat.

He will only eat his food sitting on top of our dresser. In our bedroom. Or on our nightstand. He shares water with our dog, Bella, who also eats her dinner in our bedroom. They're one pair of weirdos! lol.

So Smokey stays on the East side of the house, while Erin and her babies have the West side.

We're one big happy family :)

lol.

Wordless Wednesday!

This is one of our nephews: Jadon. He's so shy it's unbelievably adorable! :)

Austin: Mini-Vacay; Thursday (05/07/10)!

Blogger fail.

LOL. I said I'd post 2 days ago and I haven't! :( I'm sorry

But I digress...

On Friday, I may or may not have woken up feeling a little, uh out of it. Or so to speak. So we might've woken up later than expected.

We wanted to eat breakfast and then head down to San Marcos to the outlets and possibly stop at the Riverwalk in San Antonio. I can't even remember the last time we went to the Riverwalk!

That was the original plan.

But we woke up late :(

So we headed to Kerbey Lane - again, only this time we had to pay because they got our order right. lol.
It was also again, very delicious! Danny ordered the omlette I had the day before and I tried another omlette - but I suck, and I didn't take a picture!

Then we were off!

You know I can't remember the last time I'd been to the San Marcos Outlets either!

And man was that one of the hottest days in Texas! Not as bad as where I live - where it's extrememly hot & humid, but man was it hot!

Needless to say, we didn't last very long there. The heat, plus me feeling the way I was feeling . . . not a good mix. We were able to stop at the fossil store to buy my mom her Mother's Day gift, a new purse and a wallet. But remember? I suck! Not a single picture :(

Next we headed out to hunt down an Arby's! I know what you're thinking. Of all the food available why Arby's?! Well it's because we are deprived in the Valley! I think the closest one to us is in San Antonio

So lunch was great! Yummy! That was enough, all I needed to take a nice and long nap!

I slept for pretty much the entire drive home! Which amounts to about 4+1/2 hours! It felt good! :)t

That was pretty much it. Nothing special on Friday. Not even on the food front :( But it was nice to get away from the crazy work routine for a couple of days! Must do that again soon-ish!

May 10, 2010

Austin: Mini-Vacay; Thursday (05/06/10)!

I count this as a mini-vacation only because I missed out on days at work :) Not that I'm upset about that - maybe just in the sense that I didn't get compensated for those days . . . but other than not, nope!

So here's the breakdown:
Destination: Austin, TX
Duration: 2 days :(
Objective: See my BFF, Danny Saldana perform his senior recital at UT
Accomplices: Danny [the hubby] and Audrey [my sister]
Limitations: NONE!

We arrived with good time, approximately 10:50PM - considering we left Edinburg around 5:45PM and stopped for at least 30 min. to eat at the Sonic in George West. Hey we were starved! lol. Ok not really, but we were hungry and I don't think we would've made it to Austin ... maybe San Antonio ...

So the 1st thing we do is call my cousin, who was so generously going to house us for the 2 nights we'd be there. We needed to find her apartment and find a free available parking spot on the street near her apartment. She lives in "West Campus", like that means anything significant to me! lol. Give me street names, buildings anything! Annie then texts us the address to get the exact directions off the map on my iPhone. So we follow. And we find it. The apartment complex. Only it doesn't look like it! We'd been there once before to pick her up a couple of months ago and were so sure it wasn't the building. But we continue to circle the building. Lots of times.

Then I call Annie. I tell her we're circling her building. I tell her what it says on the front of the building. Because we followed the address she gave us. A couple of minutes later she sends us a text saying that she meant to type a 6 instead of a 3 - 26th street instead of 23rd street!  Yep! That would do it! We were 3 blocks down of where we should've been!

Luckily we found a street spot right away! :) Free parking for us!

We didn't stay up too late that night. We had a full day planned out for the next morning so we called it a night around 2am. I think.

Thursday morning we went to Kerbey Lane for breakfast. Upon referral and the hubby's burning desire to eat at as many diners as he could find. He's a big fan of Triple D on the Food Network.

And although Kerbey Lane wasn't on Triple D, it came highly recommended.

The Mr. and I

The waiting turned into awhile, so we started to read the local papers.

So somewhere among the hustle and bustle of the mid-morning rush, our waiter "forgot" to put our order in and forgot to come and check on us to see how we were doing. It didn't seem that long to us, we didn't notice any. But then the manager came out and retook our order and said she'd give us free drinks for the screw up.

Finally! My sisters plate: The Denver Omlette with sourdough toast and fruit.

My plate! The Portobello Omlette with an English muffin and some fruit.

Danny's Plate! The California Omlette and his side:

Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes with a lemon glaze! DELICIOUS!

We were stuffed! It was so good :) We got up to see what the deal was with the bill so we could pay and be on our way. The manager came out again and told us not to worry about it. She didn't put the reorder in either, but it was ok - not to worry about it. FREE BREAKFAST! Heck yeh!

Next we headed to Mount Bonnel! We had to walk off that huge breakfast!
It seemed like a million steps to get to the top!

Danny and I

My sister Audrey and I

Then we headed dowtown to do a couple of errands. I'd just gotten paid [lucky me!] and needed to deposit my check/get cash. So off we went!

Cool guitar statue outside the Wells Fargo on Congress St. in Downtown Austin

Here's Audrey acting like a tourist! lol.

Next we headed to the shops on South Congress!
We had to show Danny the Candy Shoppe!

Here I am picking my chocolate! :)

By that time we knew it, we were hungry again! So we decided to eat lunch at Magnolia Cafe - they were featured on Triple D's. Danny was excited about that, although not too hungry seeing as he munched down his dark chocolate covered raisins pretty soon after we'd bought them!

I munched on a cup of their soup of the day: Lentil Vegetable Soup. It was pretty good.

My entree: Alfredo Pasta Spinach fettuccine with fresh basil, mushrooms and garlic topped, alfredo parmesan sauce with grilled chicken..

Audrey's Plate: Magnolia Stir Fry

Danny's Plate: Portobello Quesadillas!

The food was again, delicious! And extremely plentiful :)

We changed into what we thought was proper church/recital clothes and made our way to the location of Danny's recital!

Danny's Program:

He's so awesome! Playing the bassoon standing up and all! He did amazing! I'm so glad we were able to go and see him perform!

I think this post is long enough, lol. I'll type about Friday in another post! I will probably post it later tomorrow.

Miscellaniosity!

[1] I tend to make up my own words from time to time. Not often. Just from time to time See title above :)

[2] I haven't had vacation time in idk how long, that this morning when it was time to wake up I kept asking if I felt hot and had a fever. I really didn't want to go back to work.

[3] I had started my weekend early, last Wednesday - and I returned to work this morning hoping to see a pile of work stacked on my desk. I was actually a little disappointed when I arrived to work and did not see said stack :-\

[4] Sandwiches for dinner tonight. I had the urge to cook. I just didn't know what I wanted to cook, my mind was blank. Either that, or maybe it was lack of options in the refrigerator . . . lol.

[5] I miss all the wedding planning craziness. Or maybe I really just miss having something to work towards ... I need a new goal ... My weekends have been/are seemingly mellow now. I think that's normal though.

[6] I seriously debated about going to Hobby Lobby this weekend to buy scrapbook materials ... contemplating about it now. ... Will probably go by the end of the week. I'm scared to try because I'm not very crafty like that. My sister bought me this awesome pink scrapbook for my bridal shower. It's still empty.

[8] Missing OTH right now. I usually watch it with my little sis but she's studying for finals! I don't miss that. Not one bit! :)

May 5, 2010

Austin, TX

So today we are off to Austin!

And by we I mean the hubby, myself and the little sister!

We're going up to watch my very best friend perform his senior recital on bassoon at the University of Texas! I'm so excited for him - this means he's nearly done and well on his way to graduate! His recital is tomorrow at 4pm! I'm super proud of him!

No guarantees if I'll get to post while we're up there but I'll try, even if it's a text message post.

We're driving up as soon as I get off work today. So we should be there by 11PM ... Maybe by 10:30 if we minimize the stops, lol.

We'll probably hang around Congress Street in the morning. Might take a drive to Mount Bonnel. Idk. We'll see!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Top 2 Tuesday!

Top 2 Things You Splurge On

1. As funny as this may sound . . . anything pertaining to the kitchen! Whether its flatware, kitchen electrics - I don't go cheap. Only because I know I'm going to use it often.

2. My haircuts! I have to admit, this is a little pricy. I was just telling my sister the other day, that sometimes I feel spoiled going into a high-end salon and getting my hair done. Cut. Colored. Styled. Whatever. I really enjoy it!

May 3, 2010

Late Bridal Pictures!

So I've been late for pretty much everything for as long as I can remember! Except the wedding! Remember!? I was fashionably early! lol.

I took my bridal portraits. Finally.

Yes. After the wedding.

10 days after my wedding! lol. But nonetheless they have been taken!

Here's a sneak peak [these were taken by my iPhone and or my little sister - I hope to receive the professional ones soon!]

Photographer: David Pezzat

That's the hubby there. In the [Best Buy] Blue shirt. How else do you think I got up in that tree?! lol.
